Vertebral Implant Launched
A new partial vertebral body replacement device manufactured by LDR that supports a transforaminal approach for implantation was recently launched. The system was approved by the Food and Drug Administration, as LDR reports.
The new ROI-T’s anatomical shape conforms to the anterior vertebral body. Specifically, the device has minimal width and the device ends are tapered, this allows implantation of the device through a smaller incision. The ROI-T also incorporates an open interior cavity that supports substantial graft amounts.
The device is manufactured with PEEK-Optima. This material supports both radiolucency and biocompatibility. Tantalum markers allow for the verification of the implant’s placement. Multiple lordotic heights and angles were integrated to support fit with distinct anatomic requirements. LDR designed a holder for the implant which supports the device during impaction.
The ROI-T is the newest product in LDR’s line of PEEK tools. The new offering expands the options for surgeons treating patients that require spine repair.
