McKesson Partners with Practice Partner

McKesson acquired Practice Partner, one of the oldest electronic health records vendors in the US. Market watchers suspect that the move represents an increased effort to infiltrate private physician practices, mostly ambulatory groups, that are independent. McKesson’s current EHR product targets larger practice groups owned by hospital organizations.

The organizational structure of Practice Partner will generally be maintained, with the founding partner moving into a vice president role in the Practice Partner division at McKesson. The collaboration will conceivably improve the Practice Product solutions, with the increased research and development funding coffers of healthcare giant McKesson.
